June Stampin Friends Blog Hop

Welcome!

It's that time of year - Spring, Flowers, and Weddings!   Our group this month is helping you get ahead of the game with some wonderful cards and 3D items.  Our theme this month is What's Going On?  I can't wait to see what my friends are creating for this theme!  A complete list of bloggers and their links are listed at the bottom of this blog.  I hope you have just come from Maureen's blog.  Please continue on to Tisiana's blog next.  We love to hear your comments, so please take the time to let us know what you think!

What's Going On with me?  A family wedding!!!  One of my nieces and her fiancé are getting married at the end of the month, so my card and project are related to the big event.

I have been asked to create some favors for the bridal shower--with a spa theme.  I created these little lavender bath salt gift bags.

I put some lavender bath salts into a 2 x 8" cellophane bag and closed it up with a topper made with a die from the Stitched Nested Labels set. Then I slipped it into a card stock gift bag.

The inspiration for the gift bag was a YouTube video from The Paper Pixie who was making an Ornate Layers Gift Bag. You will find her video here:  Paper Pixie

I changed the size of the bag like so:
My bag begins with a piece of Purple Posy card stock: 8 x 7 1/2 inch
Score along the 8 inch side at: 1 inch
Score along the 7 1/2 side at:  2 1/2, 3 1/2, 6, 7"
Here is the template:

I used one of my favorite retired stamp sets (Lots of Lavender) to create a pretty design on the card stock and punched a round hole to view the inside contents.

I folded the bag on the score lines, made a "pleat" in the sides of the top and secured the side of the box with Tear and Tape along the flap for extra strength. I overlapped the bottom flaps and secured them with glue.

The circle message on the front is from the Water Front stamp set and cut out with a die from a retired set (Stitched Labels).   It was then layered onto a Highland Heather circle, a scalloped velum circle and Gorgeous Grape stitched rectangle.
Instead of closing the bag like The Paper Pixie did, I opted to use a ribbon tie.  I punched two holes through the front and back for the white polka dot ribbon (my favorite!) and tied a bow in front.

Both my niece and her fiancé live on ranches in this beautiful valley in western Montana and are planning a western themed wedding.  It will take place in a big red barn with the guests seated on bales of hay.

Here is the card I made for them:

Background:
I started with a white background, embossed it with the Pinewood folder, and sponged over it to look like the red of a barn.
Focal piece:
The boots (retired stamp set Country Livin')and sunflowers (brand new stamp set Jar of Flowers)were stamped with Memento black ink on white card stock and colored with Stampin' Blends.  Then I used a scalloped die Stitched So Sweetly set (another favorite!)
Layers:
a.  8 1/2 x 5 1/2 white card base, scored at 4 1/4
b.  Soft Suede mat
c.  White embossed and sponged piece
d.  2 x 4 3/4" strip of vellum
e.  Linen thread
f.  Crumb Cake stitched hearts
g.  Love (Well Said stamp set) mounted  on Soft Suede

Message is found in the A Wish for Everything stamp set.
Trees and horses are in a retired set, Let it Ride

This a fun card and favor you could change for any occasion.
